THE Jodie oSHEA CHILDREN FUND
After the Bali Bomb in 2002, Jodie O’Shea house was founded. Jodie was one of the victims of the Bali Bomb in Kuta. Many children have found their homes in Jodie O’Shea’s house and have been helped with education and care. As in many Child Welfare Organizations in Bali, not all operations of the house went as planned. Many children institutionalized at Jodie O’Shea house still had loving parents, and there are reports of abuse and indications of misuse of funds. A report in the Guardian by former volunteers showed a concerning narrative. Based on this report, we tried to get in contact with Jodie O’Shea’s management.
In 2019 our foundation’s management started to guide Jodie O’Shea’s management team. This led to the result that Jodie O’Shea House as a Child Welfare Institution is permanently closed. In line with government regulations stipulating that no child should be institutionalized based on poverty or access to education (PERATURAN MENTERI SOSIAL REPUBLIK INDONESIA NOMOR : 30/HUK/2011), Jodie O’Shea’s Management has, under our guidance and supervision, since 2020, actively reunified children with their loving families.
Per 1 December 2022, Jodie O’Shea house (Yayasan Cinta Kasih Anak) officially merged into Yayasan Bali Bersih. We support and empower families of ex-clients of Jodie O’Shea house and ensure access to education through our continuing program. With this program, we also prevent the institutionalization of children and work with other Child Welfare Organizations with the objective of reunification and empowerment.
Donations for access to education and empowering families are very much welcome and needed!
We help all families with food packages, educational costs, and empowerment (micro credits, micro business, etc.).
Donations can be made by bank or in person.
