Bali NGO & Associates once again provided a collaborative space on Friday, August 29, bringing together civil society organizations, communities, academics, and environmental stakeholders. This regular program is designed as a platform to share knowledge, experiences, and build collective solutions for the pressing issues faced by society.

This session highlighted one of Bali’s most urgent challenges the closure of Suwung Landfill (TPA Suwung) and the importance of stopping organic waste disposal into landfills. The issue extends beyond local concern; it impacts tourism, public health, and long-term environmental sustainability.
Two distinguished speakers were present:
Dr. Gede Suardana, Coordinator of the Laskar Biopori Buleleng Community.
Prof. Ir. Ida Ayu Astarini, M.Sc., Ph.D., Head of the Environmental Science Master’s Program at Udayana University.
Both experts emphasized the importance of organic waste management through simple yet impactful methods such as biopore systems and eco-enzymes.

Moving beyond theory, participants actively joined in practical demonstrations of how to create biopores and eco-enzymes, while also gaining an understanding of their processes and environmental benefits. Attendees represented a wide range of NGOs, universities, communities, and local stakeholders making the discussion richer with diverse perspectives.

The central aim of this program was to amplify practical, community-driven solutions that can be collectively implemented to tackle Bali’s growing organic waste problem. By fostering dialogue and hands-on learning, Bali NGO & Associates continues to strengthen cross-sector collaboration and inspire communities to take part in shaping a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable Bali.
